National Novel Writing Month

NaNiWriMo Fail 2009

Well, it looks like I won't be making it again this time. As much as I'd like to participate in the competition, I just started a new job AND I have a freelance editing work that I need to complete.

I'm just about to crawl into bed as I write this. It's been a very long while since I've worked in LA and had to deal with the traffic and the crazy driving.

I decided to use Tumblr's private blog feature to take pictures of all the food I'm eating. What's the use of an iPhone if not to guide me to better eating choices. Wait? What do you mean it's a phone? TALK to people?! What's that?

Anyway, I better get to bed. Tomorrow, I plan to strike out early. Hopefully I'll have an hour in the morning after the gym to work on more edits.

National Novel Writing Month (Attempt II: Electric Bugaloo)

November is coming up again. That means it's National Novel Writing Month (or NaNoWriMo).

Last year, I got sick and never completed my goals. Of course, I was outlining at the same time as I was attempting to write. When you fall behind, you really fall behind.

So after the wedding, I'm going to do some planning. October should be National Novel Outlining Month. I think that way the whole writing thing should go a lot smoother.

Thoughts on the Holidays 2008 and Looking Forward 2009

In my eyes, 2008 went by in a flash. Of course, when you get older, each year seems to go by faster and faster.

This time of year always goes really fast for me. Halloween, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas, and New Years. And then my brithday. Boom! Another year older.

I feel like I've been blessed this year. My family is healthy and I have lots of friends and family that I love all around me.

I spent the last few nights wrapping gifts and making cookies. It's nice because it's what you expect to do. Very comforting.

It's been exciting. Barack Obama will be our President very soon. Sadly Prop 8 passed in California, banning gay marriage. My thoughts have been consistent about this issue. Homosexual people cannot help but be as they are. Don't they deserve to have love and marriage as anyone else does? My God is not about hate or denying others, but loving each other. Celebrating a little more love in this world can't be a bad thing.

As to my personaly 2008, I felt as if my life was on pause this year. Mostly because I lost the ability to hang out with my friends in LA and was hindered by gas prices (and laziness) to go down to San Diego and hang out with my family.

The pattern of my life has changed so much from the constant buzz of working and living in Los Angeles to moving out here. With the horses. And the sheep.

But sometimes you need a change. And since I think I really was in the right place in the right time, I'm satisfied with the outcome of this year.

Of course, with 32 looming just a few weeks away, I have to revisit this topic when I'm less buzzed on egg nog.

So, my wishes for 2009?

Well, I want to win the lotto, of course. But since I don't gamble and it's easier to get struck by lightning, I think that's going to be a bust.

I Fail @ NaNoWriMo

I think I first got behind because on my cold. Then my projects at work put me off from sitting at my computer. Now, I'm thousands of words behind.

I'll try to write tomorrow, but I really am disappointed with my story so far and want to start again. Maybe that would be better.

National Novel Writing Month 2008 - Start!

It's the first day!

Um, I'm sick, but I'm going to do my best. *laugh* My brain may not be super fast today and this laptop is at times fritzy, but I can type 3000 words a day. I can!

Um, and these don't count.

Ok, I should get back to it. And turn off the internet.

National Novel Writing Month 2008

ikuhara-ardith

Thousands of potential writers crack their knuckles each November and participate in National Novel Writing Month.

The goal: 175 pages (50,000 words) in 30 days.

I've written several fanfiction stories and considered participating last year. This year, I am determined to do it! Well, at least I'm going to try my damn best.

I've mostly stuck to writing fanfiction. Since fanfiction inherently has built in characters, I know that setting up characters will be a challenge. I really believe in characters moving a story so I'm trying to set the groundwork right now.

I've also joined a group of other NaNoWriMo writers in San Diego for support and to throw ideas around.

So I'm going to buckle down and write. No matter what.

Wish me luck, y'all.

Update:

I added a link to No Plot? No Problem, a guide to writing during NaNoWriMo.
