After HD TV, it’s hard to go back. I have a really nice 32 inch Wega that I loved when I first got out of college. It was my first big purchase. I dropped over $1000 on it and it was totally worth it. Now it sits upstairs, mostly unused. I’ve moved on to bigger and better things.
And by things, I mean .
I mean, I’ve always loved a good PBS/Nature/Science special, but with the magic of HD, it makes images on the screen seem breathtakingly vivid.
I just plopped on the TV and lost an hour watching a special on the Smithsonian Channel in HD. The special was about the search for giant anacondas. Like 25+ feet long. Of course the snakes looked huge, scale-y, and alive.
Of course, this kind of backfires when watching the Food Channel in HD. It’s so hard to not feel hungry when faced with the sumptuous feasts that they produce in decadence.

I’m also considering different netbooks. The netbooks look promising, especially since into them without too much fuss.
I already take my computer to a lot of places. I have a lovely IBM T41 ThinkPad. I’m running Ubuntu on it, but I am aching for something even more portable. You never know when you will need to write a document or do some complex spread sheet work….
Plus, the comes in pink.
Strangely, it costs about $100 more than the Acers that I recently saw at Costco.
I’m really looking for something that has a lot of harddrive space. I have a lot of MP3s and buy blurays. Now that many new release blurays come with digital copies, I think a larger harddrive is more important than ever.
I think i’d best think about it more. This laptop is still running. Plus, a lot fo these new netbooks have built-in webcams. And I think it’s kinda creepy.
