hanabatake/research

over the years, i have been in many japanese culture classes at UCLA.
as a result, i have been able to work my obsession with anime and manga into several paper topics. ^_^
while i'm certainly not an expert, my friends convinced me to put my papers up since there is not much academic research done on the subject.
i have included my bibliographies and footnotes so that you can use my sources for research. there isn't that much, but at least it's a starting point, right?
PLEASE DO NOT COPY MY PAPERS!

you can cite them if you wish, but plagiarism is very wrong. i am putting them up to help you.
update: more papers are up, since i finally graduated. ^_^ sorry about the sucky formatting. i got lazy and just did it from word. when i have time, i'll fix it. maybe. ^^
i just noticed.... everything starts with those pesky black ships! (black ships=the americans coming to japan in the later half of the kamakura period, right before the meiji restoration.)

please feel free to e-mail me at ardith@hanabatake.com if you have any questions. hopefully i can help you.
you can also find many articles on anime and manga in magazines. but remember, the some writers are coming from the popular anime=porn stance.
(which is bad research on their part.... anime and manga is so much more than that!)
