Guess what I got this evening?
UPS delivered my PlayStation 3! Happily, it took about 2 weeks to get it back. Even more luckily, the repair was covered under my warranty and didn't cost me anything. I've heard that it cost $120 to replace the laser out of warranty. I have 90 days from now to see if the repairs hold.
I did have trouble backing up, so I have to check on that, too.
Of course, now that I have it back, I was able to pop in Wall-e. The nice thing about some of the new bluray releases is that they include a digital copy from iTunes.
I have to admit that I have Wall-e on my iPhone. Watching it today really helped to take my mind off my post-Thanksgiving workouts.
Anyway, I will have to put it through it's paces. And make sure I can make backups of my ps3 system, to boot.
GAHHH!
Apparently I have some weird thing wrong with my ps3. Some tiny piece of data is not letting me back up the bastard.
I thought it was my Passport freaking out. I reformatted it several times only to realize the PS3 was playing with my mind.
I have to confess, I have some music files as well as some videos. I thought perhaps one of them was causing the trouble.
I deleted them all and I still had a error that said 8001002A. My PS3 mocked me by repeating that, once again, it could not back up. I also got a 8003051E error when I tried to back up the video files. I then realized, I've already watched them and have the DVDs so I didn't really need the files. Of course it's so convenient to just play it from the PS3....
Anyway, I backed up my game files. My brother downloaded some copies of games on my ps3, but I didn't really play them. I mean, what really matters to me is my Disgaea 3, Star Wars Legos, and Folklore.
So, I'm restoring my PS3 HD so I can back it up in case they do something to it.
My fabulous journey continues. I just want to watch Wall-e on Blu-ray. *weeps*
Right now, I'm a little upset.
Well, maybe more in shock.
While watching Hellboy 2, my PlayStation 3 suddenly froze up. And then... wouldn't load any disc again!
My parents and brother gave me the PS3 for Christmas last year and for the past year, I've been utterly happy playing high definition discs and the occasional game on it. In fact, I got a Netflix account since I wanted to watch more DVDs and Blu-ray movies.
I usually use the system for movies because, I have to admit, the PS3 doesn't really have that many games that intereste me. I'm more of an RPG kind of girl. Luckily, Disgaea 3 came out and I've been happily working my way through that and Lego Star Wars.
Anyway, my PS3 loading thingy died and it can't play games, dvds, or bluray discs. So it's like a box right now. A box that has some music, games, and videos that I've loaded into it, but no way to play any new stuff. A box that sits there, looking heavy and sullen. And making me sad.
I have to confess... One of the reasons it took so long to get this back up was because I've been a bit distracted. I've been playing Disgaea. Now, I happen to own Disgaea 1 and 2, but I have not finished either one of the games.
Why?
Well, partly because the game system really is built so you can take as long as you want before you finish it. And mostly because I got a PS3. Now, my PlayStation 3 is an 80 GB one, so it doesn't have backwards compatibility with the PS2. I can dust off my PSX games, though.
But the PS3 has spoiled me. It plays lovely Bluray discs and makes the TV downstairs present a most beautiful picture. So I haven't gone back. Well, I do go back. Mostly when people are watching something silly downstairs on the big tv.
But usually, I go read if that's the case.
I'm rambling.... It's pretty late for me, so pardon my fits & starts...
Disgaea 3 centers around Mao. He's the son of the evil Overlord who loooveesss video games. And now he's out for revenge on his evil Overlord-daddy. The game is full of puns, puzzles, and fun. Honestly, the graphics aren't an improvement on the PS2's, but there are some fun game functions like Duel Toss and new geo-things. It doesn't have that irritating warrent thing that took soooo freaking long in Disgaea 2.
And of course, Disgaea features the cutest of character designs.
I told my coworker that I stopped playing Oblivion after the first half-hour.
Because.
Rats.
Ate.
Me.
I'm sure that there are a lot of people who love those types of games. I'm a Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest kind of girl. I can't stand rats. And Disgaea makes everything cute. Even Zombies.
