32 Years on Earth and 3 Celebrations

For my 32nd birthday, I took advantage of the free day at Disneyland. Angeline, one of my sisters, was so aghast that I was thinking of going alone that she decided to join me on my adventure.

She took the day off and joined me on an adventure in the Magic Kingdom. My birthday fell this year fell on a Wednesday and the park was almost empty. I've decided that in the future, I must always go to Disneyland in the middle of the week.

I think I went on twice as many rides as I normally do! The first place we went to was Tomorrowland.

My sister endured the Astro Orbiter, Star Tours, and Space Mountain in quick succession. As a reprieve, we stopped at the House of Tomorrow (which I guess is sponsored by Microsoft).... Along the way, we met up with my cousin Ellen and her family and friends who were also visiting Disneyland, which was very nice!

Right before, we saw a bunch of children beat up Darth Vader in the Jedi Academy experience. That, by the way, is freaking awesome. I can only hope that my future children can experience fighting Vader! We were able to ride some of the revamped rides including the new Submarine Experience with Finding Nemo as well as a family favorite -- The Madhatter's Tea Party ride.

The Fall

Tarsem Singh may be best known for the stunning visuals of the Cell.

His amazing use of color, costume, and dramatic staging take you into a fantastical world through the eyes of an imaginative little girl.

The story is split into the real world and a fantastical one. Much like The Never Ending Story and Pan's Labyrinth, there are memorable characters and creatures.

Scary Sci-Fi

I'm a scaredy cat. I don't enjoy horror movies or playing video games that let you hack and slash people or go up against the Umbrella Corp or whatever. That being said, one of my favorite movies is Dark City. While it is frightening, there is just something compelling about film.

A Director's Cut has just been released on blu-ray. I'm trying to watch it right now, but I'm a little too scared to watch the new version for the first time at night.

Even though I'm pretty familiar with the story, I'm not so good with having these visuals in my wee mind before I go to sleep...

I'm sure that I'm going to have some weird dreams if I continue.
