Earthquakes, Tusnami, and helping Japan
The images on the TV have been horrifying. It’s hard to turn away, though.
I was raised in California. Much like Japan, we live with the threat of earthquakes, but the one that struck at 2:46pm on March 11th (local japanese time) was something out of a movie. Usually, earthquakes don’t last that long. Usually, they don’t rock that hard. It was awe inspiring. It moved the coast of Japan 8 feet.
And then the tsunami struck the coast.
As of today (March 13), the official death toll is about 700 people, but just one town is missing 1500 people.
To add to the problems, 5 nuclear power plants were damaged by the quake. One may melt down.
Luckily, my friends and their families in Japan seem to be doing well. There is a massive rescue effort going on right now. I’m praying because there has to be some hope, right?
