Waiting for my iPad2

by ardith

I’ve been putting off purchasing an eReader for the past few years. First of all, I’m not sure if I want to commit to a Kindle.

Second of all. I love apps.

Here’s my plan:
I am going to stop using my iPhone.

Well, it’s a bit more that I’m replacing my iPhone with an iPad 2. And getting a regular phone.

See, I think I need to NOT be able to check Facebook all the time. I don’t need to get emails every few minutes.

But I do love games and puzzles.

And books.

At 1.3 lbs, I’m not sure if it will be the most comfortable thing to use as an eReader, but at least I may build some muscle strength, right? Right?!

I ordered it on 3/11 and am expecting my shiny iPad 2 at the end of the month. Can’t wait to boot it up.

Ukulele Music

by ardith

I really like the sound of the Ukulele. It sound sweeter than a guitar to me. It’s an instrument I’d love to learn how to play. Of course I’d never be as good as Taimane Gardner!

Taimane’s Toccata
She has a few songs on iTunes:

I Heart Japan

by ardith

Last night, I participated in a great fundraiser put on by artists, as well as anime, manga, and video game industry members called We Heart Japan.

A ton of really great voice actors were there to sign for fans. There was a silent auction with some amazing artists participating. I helped with the raffle, selling tickets and pulling prizes.

The event was pulled together by Stephanie Sheh, Pinguino Kolb, Shizuki Yamashita and a bunch of other great people.

It was amazing how many people turned out for the event. And I was really moved with how generous people were. Meltdown Comics hosted the event. The owner and staff were so amazing! I really love that place.

We also raised quite a bit of money! I’m so glad that the anime & manga community came out to support this cause.

We had some great coverage. Please take a look:

Earthquakes, Tusnami, and helping Japan

by ardith

The images on the TV have been horrifying. It’s hard to turn away, though.

I was raised in California. Much like Japan, we live with the threat of earthquakes, but the one that struck at 2:46pm on March 11th (local japanese time) was something out of a movie. Usually, earthquakes don’t last that long. Usually, they don’t rock that hard. It was awe inspiring. It moved the coast of Japan 8 feet.

And then the tsunami struck the coast.

As of today (March 13), the official death toll is about 700 people, but just one town is missing 1500 people.

To add to the problems, 5 nuclear power plants were damaged by the quake. One may melt down.

Luckily, my friends and their families in Japan seem to be doing well. There is a massive rescue effort going on right now. I’m praying because there has to be some hope, right?

Please donate what you can. There’s a list of places via Time you can donate to help. I donated to The Red Cross. Also check if your company matched your donation!
