PlayStation 3 Death?
Right now, I’m a little upset.
Well, maybe more in shock.
While watching Hellboy 2, my PlayStation 3 suddenly froze up. And then… wouldn’t load any disc again!
My parents and brother gave me the PS3 for Christmas last year and for the past year, I’ve been utterly happy playing high definition discs and the occasional game on it. In fact, I got a Netflix account since I wanted to watch more DVDs and Blu-ray movies.
I usually use the system for movies because, I have to admit, the PS3 doesn’t really have that many games that intereste me. I’m more of an RPG kind of girl. Luckily,Disgaea 3 came out and I’ve been happily working my way through that and Lego Star Wars.
Anyway, my PS3 loading thingy died and it can’t play games, dvds, or bluray discs. So it’s like a box right now. A box that has some music, games, and videos that I’ve loaded into it, but no way to play any new stuff. A box that sits there, looking heavy and sullen. And making me sad.
I looked on the Sony Knowledge System thing and the only answer is to send it in. I don’t know how long this will take. They’ll email me with more details after reviewing the problem.
I’m glad that it happened before the warranty expired (mid-December). I’m not sure how many other PS3 owners have experienced this. Is it common?
Since buying a bluray player is around the same price as buying a PS3, I always thought that it was a better option. I wonder if other bluray players last longer.
I have noticed that the PS3 sometimes gets really, really, really loud. It makes me wonder (worry?) that the actual reason it had a freakout was because of the loud fan noise.
Anyway, I’m just going to wait and send this back. I hear that it’s the laser that needs to be replaced. Hopefully it will be done sooner rather than later.
I mean, I was IN THE MIDDLE of Hellboy 2!! Speaking of which, I bought my copy at Target and it came with a free digital copy download from iTunes. At least I can watch it on my iPhone in the meantime.
So I guess I’m just going to have to watch it while I’m working out. On my tiny, tiny screen. Or on this monitor….
