Road Trip

by ardith

I hope people are having a pleasant Memorial Day.

I have work. *laugh* But that’s ok. I like work.

But yesterday, I had a bit of an adventure involving my little sister, Vegas, and a roadtrip.

My younger sister was stranded in Las Vegas yesterday. She was there for her birthday and due to some extrenuating circumstances, my parents (who had been visiting me in LA) and I decided to drive 4 hours out to Vegas to get her.

Now, I am not what you call a Sunday driver. I grew up in San Diego, but cut my teeth driving in Los Angeles. I can’t help but be agressive. Sooooooo, the normally 4 hour trip was cut to 3 1/2 hours.

But really! I wasn’t the only one driving like that! I kept up with the traffic! Um, so I sometimes would drive in and out of traffic…. I’m a good girl.

Anyway, once we got there, my parents  took an hour to gamble and my sister and I had some food.

I really, really wanted to have a buffet, but due to time constraints that was not possible. I ended driving a total of like 7 hours *laugh*. My sister took over the rest of the way to Corona where I dropped them off to get their car. But it’s another 45 minutes to my place from there.

Of course, I followed traffic laws!

Really.

Geesh.

Book Expo America – New York 2005

by ardith

Dietrich, Shizuki, Kaname, and I are heading to New York next week for Book Expo America. We’ll be talking to buyers, retail store owners, and librarians about our manga release &  Broccoli Books.

*whew* Most of the week will be horribly busy. I can’t believe it’s June already!

I’m always excited about going to book events. I’m addicted to books in general and romance novels in particular. At BEA, I’m hoping to meet a bunch of authors in my spare time…. In particular, MaryJanice Davidson , who will be signing there.

Of course, it’s New  York. I’ve only been there once (for Toy Fair a few months ago). Maybe we’ll get a chance to see some sights there. Or… at least have a chance to catch up on rest as I’m sure that I’ll spend the convention talking a mile a  minute as I always do.

I hope people aren’t offended at conventions if I don’t remember you. It’s so busy and my poor brain is so slow to absorb and retain stuff like names and faces. I’m horrible at at. Must pop more ginko-baloba to upgrade my memory chips.

Anyway, if you are coming to BEA, please stop by our booth in the Diamond Graphic Novel area.
